Shantaram - Gregory Roberts
Paradise Salvage - John Fusco
Pillars of the Earth - Ken Follett
Labyrinth - Kate Mosse
Birdsong - Sebastien Faulks

Or, for danny, probably Dr Seuss, if you can find someone to read it to you.

Re: BOOK THREAD - weccomendations
I'll read pretty much anything - you can get some really good unusual stuff off the free list for kindles on Amazon (and some utter garbage!)

However, I always recommend Life of Pi on these threads - it's a wonderful book, a brilliant concept with a great styke. Even if you've seen the film, the book is still worth it

For something trashier I like the crime stuff from Richard montanari (the skin gods is a good read) and Simon kernick has a knack for churning out good page turners!

If you want something light hearted and a sort of make equivalent of chick lit, mike gauges books can be harmless and enjoyable, funny and touching.

I could go on all day

Have you read 'Killing Bono'?

Really funny read about Neil McCormick's endless battle to get a record deal through the '80s and '90's, juxtaposed against the rather unfortunate fact that his best friends and schoolmates he was competing against in his early days, happened to be U2.

Funny and interesting read.

Load of old shit. It's crime thriller fiction by the numbers. Page turners though which is what people want.

Re: BOOK THREAD - weccomendations
Ive read quite a lot about it , my old man was there from 50 -54. This book tells how they defeated the Communists by Police/civil command of the operation rather than Military. Military were used but at the behest of the Governor and police

It can't have been, else my comment would be invalid.

Just finished ' Snow and Steel' about the Battle of the Bulge. Best book I've read for years.

Another really good WW2 book is 'First Light' written by Geoffrey Wellum, the youngest Spitfire pilot in the RAF.
